Why Choose a Society of Sports Therapists member?

The Society of Sports Therapists was established in 1990 to address the growing demands from sport and leisure on everyone involved in the management and care of injured participants. With the increasing emphasis on "Sport for All" and the escalating number of participants at all levels, it was imperative that the provision and availability of support services was standardised and monitored. Furthermore, with the number of incidents requiring immediate "lifesaving" first aid techniques rising, there was a need for an organisation to ensure that adequate, effective and appropriate training courses were provided and monitored.

Members of The Society of Sports Therapists:

  • Have reached a minimum benchmark level of knowledge and are eligible for membership status.
  • Are eligible for Professional Liability Insurance.
  • Are required to undertake an annual programme of mandatory Continued Professional Development (CPD) in order to maintain their right for re-registration.
  • Hold a current and valid first aid qualification as a mandatory pre-requisite for membership.
  • Are governed by standards of conduct and disciplinary procedures that are transparent and serve to protect not only the member but also the public with whom they come in contact.
  • Are a member of an organisation that strives to increase the levels of care provided for sports and recreational participants, regardless of age, level and ability.
  • Are members of a professional body that is working with the Health Professions Council for the regulation and registration of the profession of Sports Therapy.

What Our Clients Say

I see Ross regularly at his Colchester Clinic. I was in constant pain with an injury. I could hardly walk. Now I can honestly say thanks to his treatment I am virtually pain free!! My quality of life has improved greatly. I am even able to attend a gym as part of my rehabilitation. Without Ross I do not believe I would be where I am today. I only wish I had found him sooner. I highly recommend him. Mrs Weavers.

"After suffering from lower back pain for many years, I thought I should get something done about it. I was recommended to see Ross, Unsure at the time about seeing a Sports Injury Specialist, as my complaint was defiantly not a sporting injury! I thought recommendation is a strong piece of advice so I went to see Ross, What a good move. He explained that just because the injury was not sustained during sport the diagnosing and treatment is still the same. He subsequently got straight to the site of pain, with an in depth examination and a clear diagnosis, the treatment was very successful. I am now able to sit at my desk at work pain free." Miss. Chappel

"Amazing! After so many other failed visits to consultants, with Ross, I'm now pain free. I only wish I knew of him years ago. He explained the reasons behind my injury, how I was to be treated, the healing process and how to avoid future injury. I'd recommend him to anybody." - Mr. Castle
